Jonggak Station01

Hanok pavilion in 54 Jong-ro (Gwancheol-dong), Jongno-gu, Seoul. It is often called Jonggak (鐘閣) because it is a pavilion with a bell. It is very close to Jonggak Station of Seoul Subway Line 1, and the name of Jonggak Station, which was built at the intersection of Jongno 1-ga when the Jongno Line (currently Seoul Subway Line 1) first opened in 1974, is also taken from this pavilion. In particular, it is well-known for the sounding of the bells of the New Year, held every December 31st in Seoul. The pavilion itself went through various changes. The old pavilion, which was rebuilt during the Gwanghae-gun of Joseon and preserved until liberation, disappeared by bombing due to the Korean War.
